To Multiply Our Ministry

Over the next few weeks we will be learning about our capital stewardship program that we are calling, Multiplying Ministry.  During this time, we will be receiving information packets, studying scripture, considering stewardship, praying and celebrating.  We believe that all this will be a part of the Spirit’s invitation to come on an exciting journey as we consider what God is calling us to do for our church.

It seems appropriate to make the first step of this journey one of gratitude.  Surely we know that we are blessed and Hibben is a wonderful church.  Through our present ministries, disciples are formed, lives are transformed and God is honored.  Those things are already happening.  Right now.  Praise God.

As we strive to offer our best we certainly don’t want to lose our wonder at the fact that God is with us when we gather and when we reach out.  Isn’t it humbling to know that God has brought us this far and has a purpose for our church and its future?  We are indeed a thankful people.

But we are journeying on.  We sense a call to multiply what we are doing.  We want to continue to grow as Christ followers.  We feel God calling us to share life, feed the hungry, teach about God’s love, and bring healing into broken lives.  We believe those things can happen and will happen as we offer what we have for Jesus’ blessing, just as the five loaves and two fish were offered at the feeding of the five-thousand.

So, let’s all pray, listen, and keep an open heart.  Please read the information and talk to our program leaders (Kent and Cyrene Selby, Terri Suiter, and Steve Bare) if you have questions.

Let us all sincerely ask, “God, what would you have me do?”  Who knows where asking that question may take us.
